In today’s (9/3/2020) 4:05 game, the Philadelphia Phillies will be using this baseball as they commemorate the number retirement of Dick Allen.

The logo itself is very simple, just a large “15” and “Allen”, probably one of if not the simplest number retirement balls made. I like the look of it, its sharp, and its got a decent size.
The byproduct of this shortened season is many number retirements and events were postponed to next season, and there wasn’t a ton of time for teams to draw up commemoratives and have them approved by the league. But, the Phillies have done it, and we have our first single team one day commemorative of the season where I expected none.
It’s unfortunate that ballhawks and fans alike can’t be in the stands trying to snag them, but hopefully next season things get back to normal.
I hope you enjoyed reading this brief article, check out some of my other articles about this shortened season! Thanks to Nick Bekeshka for the heads up on this.
