New Marlins 30th Anniversary Commemorative Revealed & a Peek at the 2023 London Series World Tour ball + More!

Posted on March 31, 2023July 22, 2023 by Eric Abneri

A nice little Opening Weekend news drop for us all! Yesterday, thanks to the Marlins’ Esteban Bejarano, I finally obtained a photo of the Marlins 30th Anniversary baseball that will be used on Friday home games, starting March 31st against the Mets. I also got a sneak peek at the 2023 London Series baseball from Rawlings, as well as the 2023 World Series logo!

Basically no surprises here, I go in depth on the logo a little more in my season preview article, but I am interested here that the Marlins ended up going with very very little negative space on the logo. Usually our commemorative baseballs end up having a lot more negative space, and outline names/numbers/the like, but this ball is somewhat the opposite. I am a fan of that! This ball is currently not available at retail, I do expect it to be at some point this season, but it was a bit rushed, and we’re lucky it is making it to the field at all for now. You can now find these here, on eBay from a Rawlings dealer. Well done to the Marlins for working hard to get this done last minute. Note the trademark symbol, it seems that is becoming a standard.

Finally we get a look at what our international slate of commemorative baseballs will be this season! Here we have a Rawlings mock-up of the London Series ball. I also go a little more in depth on this in my season preview, but I am really intrigued by the use of the “MLB World Tour” above the London series wordmark. I expect this to be on the Mexico City series ball as well, and I think it will become a standard for future years as MLB embraces their international outreach. Of course, I would prefer a real logo instead of a bunch of words, but beggars cannot be choosers. Also note the trademark symbol as well again at lower right, boo. You can get it here, on eBay! And here is a link to the Mexico Series ball from a dealer on eBay.

Lastly today, we recently received a leak of the 2023 World Series Logo/Wordmark. Pretty standard, I do actually love that font, it is quite similar to the London Series font. I hope they put it on the ball nicely with the trophy, that would be a quite nice looking ball! I do not expect the ball to come out until August or September, but it is always nice to get an idea of what we will see in advance.

Looking forward to getting more baseballs announced and more info soon as always, but happy Opening Weekend, I hope to snag some baseballs myself soon, and I hope you do too! Always thrilling to have baseball back.

Here is a link to Rawlings Amazon page where you can always find commemoratives (or standard ROMLBs) from 2023 or other years!

I will update the links and photos on this post as I have more as always, and hopefully we get that Mexico City Series ball soon! Thanks for the great update, Eric. Thank you to the Marlins for getting this done and for such a great looking logo.

I’ll have one shot at the Marlins logo ball, Friday, April 14. I hope the foul balls are flying that day and that the players are generous by tossing them to the fans.

I choose stadiums to visit based on logo balls and am excited have a chance at this one

    Thanks again, Eric!

Eric, quick update, the Astros City Connect balls were used this past Monday, 4/3, I’ll let you know if they “run out” as you mentioned in your previous article during the season.

I was able to get a Marlins logo ball last Friday. It was a base hit in the bottom of the fourth by the Marlins Avisail Garcia thrown to me by Evan Longoria of the Diamondbacks.
